The Short Version
We collect your email and name for your account, and your prompts and images to create comics. We use analytics to improve the service. We don't sell your data. Content needed for AI features is sent to Google or OpenAI, depending on the feature and model you use. You can delete your account and data anytime.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how OVERNERD LLC ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use NanoComic ("the Service").
By using NanoComic, you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Age Requirement
NanoComic is for users 18 years or older. If we learn we've collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it. Contact us at support@nanocomic.com if you believe this has occurred.
Information We Collect
Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name through our authentication provider, Clerk.
Your Content: Prompts you write, reference images you upload, and comic pages we generate for you.
Payment Information: Purchases are processed by Polar, our payment provider and merchant of record. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Usage Data: With your consent, we collect pseudonymous analytics using PostHog about how the Service is used, including pages visited, features used, and technical information like browser type and general location. AI telemetry may include provider, model, timing, token usage, and cost, but does not include your prompts, images, or model responses. This data is linked to an internal identifier, not your email or name.
Session Recordings: With your consent, we may record browsing sessions to identify usability issues. Sensitive information is automatically redacted. You can opt out through our cookie consent banner.
Fraud Prevention: We store a cryptographic hash of your email address to prevent abuse of trial credit offers. This hash cannot be reversed to reveal your email and is retained for up to one year.

We do not sell your personal information.
AI Processing
NanoComic uses Google Gemini and OpenAI APIs to provide AI features. When NanoComic generates, edits, interprets, or moderates content, we send the provider the inputs required for that request, which may include prompts, reference images, annotations, previous generated images, and generated responses.
- Google Gemini provides text and image generation and content-safety checks. Google may retain paid Gemini API inputs and outputs for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring. Google states that it does not use paid API inputs or outputs to improve its products. See Google's Gemini API data-use terms and abuse-monitoring policy.
- OpenAI provides content moderation and selected image-generation models. OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, unless law requires longer retention. OpenAI states that it does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models unless the API customer opts in. See OpenAI's API data controls.
NanoComic does not opt in to either provider's API data-sharing programs for model training.
Do not include sensitive personal information in your prompts or uploaded images.
Third-Party Services
We use service providers to operate the Service, including for cloud infrastructure and related services. These providers access your information only as needed to perform services on our behalf and are obligated to protect it.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data, except:
- Data already sent to AI providers, including Google and OpenAI, is subject to their retention policies
- Transaction records may be retained by our payment provider for their legal obligations
- Encrypted backups are automatically purged on a rolling basis
- We may retain anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication, session management, and storing your analytics preference. With your consent, we use analytics cookies and backend analytics to understand how the Service is used. You can manage your preferences through our cookie banner. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your Rights
You may:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information via account settings or by contacting us
- Delete your account and associated data through account settings
- Opt out of analytics and session recordings via cookie settings
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), or CTDPA (Connecticut). These include rights to object to processing, restrict processing, or lodge complaints with supervisory authorities. We honor these rights for all users.

International Users
NanoComic is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the US, your information will be transferred to the US and other countries where our service providers operate.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect.
